A Podcast Every Wine Lover Should Hear: Dying on the Vine with Adam Huss & George Gale
Every now and then, something comes along that stops Ken, Chuck, and I in our tracks — something so enlightening, so surprisingly gripping, that we all end up talking about it long after the glasses are washed and the lights are off.
That happened while traveling together on our recent trip to New York as we listend to this remarkable episode of Adam Huss’s “Beyond Organic Wine” podcast, titled:
Dying on the Vine – Phylloxera, Hybrids, and the History & Future of Wine

A Four-Day Escape to the City
In November 2025, Ken, Chuck, and I set off on a whirlwind escape that took us from Broadway laughs and a dinosaur-filled art auction in Manhattan to a hilariously ill-fated sailing attempt in 35-degree winds in Perth Amboy. After warming up over incredible Mexican food and a night on Chuck’s rocking boat, we headed for Long Island Wine Country, following expert recommendations to some of the region’s best wineries—Paumanok, Borghese, Macari, Suhru & Lieb, and more. Between standout tastings, unforgettable winemakers, and food stops ranging from Dominican comfort to Turkish perfection, the second half of our trip was every bit as surprising and satisfying as the first. Hermit Woods in the Spotlight!
Rhode Island Monthly recently featured Hermit Woods Winery on the New Hampshire Wine Trail — and we couldn’t be more excited!
They highlighted our passion for crafting barrel-aged, locally sourced fruit wines (no imported grape juice here!) and praised Chef Kaylon Sweet at Sweet Mercy Kitchen for dishes like smoky bacon dill dip and roasted white fish curry with rhubarb and mango.

This July, Ken and Ben have been hard at work in the cellar—fermenting new fruit, bottling fan favorites like Petite Blue, and launching exciting new wines like our Blueberries Aux Bubbles and a bold vermouth-inspired creation. Row for Winni: A Dream Realized
It’s a dream I’ve had since moving to the Lakes Region in 1993—to cross the full length of Lake Winnipesaukee under my own power. On June 26, 2025, that dream became a reality.
