Award winning singer-songwriter and light warrior Katie Dobbins seeks to share honest music that captivates listeners and brings light to the darkness. With a mastery of storytelling and the heart of a poet, this soulful songstress captures elements of life and relationships in ways that lift the spirit and challenge the soul. Her album There Is Light, produced by multi-award-winning producer Sean McLaughlin of 37′ Productions, was awarded Album of the Year at the 2019 New England Music Awards and 2021 Limelight Music Awards. Her single There’s a Light, mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Jeff Lipton, was featured on Spotify’s New Friday Christian playlist. Her music has been featured on prominent radio stations like NPR and “Boston’s Hottest Country,” with host Carolyn Kruse raving “Sweet but bold, Katie’s voice is reminiscent of one of her heroes, Jewel, but only deeper… A fearless spirit with a gentle touch.” Dobbins’ September single Wild, written on the rocks at Marginal Way in Maine, sings of wild love that compels her to step outside of her comfort zone and toward the wild dreams in her heart.
George Barber’s unique brand of Americana pulls from the proud folk traditions of songwriters like John Prine, Steve Earle, and Jason Isbell, while blending the gritty ruckus of bands like Lucero, Deer Tick, and Son Volt. His new album Where The Trouble Started was released in November 2020. George is also the beloved cook at Hermit Woods Winery!
Ian Galipeau is an indie-rock songwriter for hopeful cynics. He dwells on his craft to an obsessive degree, weaving empathetic storytelling and careful wordplay into thought-provoking, nuanced songs. His lyrics are where his obsession lies – he is not an artist who can just write a simple love song, or a breakup song. He’s compelled (for better or worse) to use songs to explore something out-of-the-ordinary. Sometimes it’s a meditation on writers block, or the nostalgia of parenthood, or the perspective of a Ray Bradbury character… but there’s always some fragment of the unexpected. Musically he leans toward indie-rock, drawing comparisons to Hozier and Ben Harper. Through the course of a set, you’ll also hear strands of retro-pop and Americana that will keep you on your toes.
Ian is based in Keene, NH. He’s been performing around New England since 2010, and has shared the stage with the likes of Arc Iris, Dietrich Strauss, and Ian Fitzgerald. He released two sister-EPs, titled Raze/Raise, in March of 2018, and followed with the full-length album Like We Were Never Here At All in September 2022.
A Listening Room Experience
Hermit Woods is excited to bring talented artists from New England and beyond to perform for you. Each performance will provide you with an intimate, up-close, and personal experience with the performing artists. We ask our audience please refrain from talking during the featured show. Your silence will allow the artists and the audience to immerse themselves in the experience, which is not otherwise possible in larger, noisier environments.
