Led by acclaimed tenor saxophonist Jonathan “Lockjaw” Lorentz, this powerhouse quintet features internationally respected trumpeter Jerry Sabatini, Tom Robinson on piano, Brendan “Low End” Dowd on upright bass, and Tim Gilmore on drums. Together, these accomplished musicians deliver an electrifying blend of hard bop, blues-infused originals, and fearless improvisation that thrives in an intimate listening-room setting.

This special performance will also celebrate the legacy of jazz legends Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane. The band will honor the recent passing of Rollins while paying tribute to the centennial birthdays of Davis and Coltrane, whose influence continues to shape modern jazz.

About Jonathan Lorentz

A Vermont native and longtime champion of New Hampshire’s jazz scene, Jonathan Lorentz has built an impressive career as a performer, educator, and recording artist. A PhD graduate of New York University, Lorentz studied with jazz greats including Lenny Pickett, Frank Foster, and George Garzone while performing at iconic venues such as Smalls, The Blue Note, The Bitter End, CBGB’s, and Radio City Music Hall.

His internationally acclaimed album Borderlands earned praise from critics around the world. Fanfare Magazine described Lorentz as having “a great style, an explorative mind, and a concept that goes beyond the usual fare you hear from jazz groups,” while NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman praised his “real big sound on tenor sax.”

Throughout his career, Lorentz has performed with an impressive roster of artists including Delfeayo Marsalis, Harry Allen, Ken Peplowski, Jason Palmer, Randy Roos, J. Geils, and many others.
