Ken Hardcastle, Hermit Woods Winemaker will walk you through the world of craft wine, mead, and cider, providing you with a greater understanding and knowledge of this fascinating subject. Through this event and subsequent events to be held over the next few months, Ken will cover such subjects as: the basics of the craft of wine making, how to judge and properly taste wine, the history and uniqueness of wine, cider and meads, the great wine regions of the world and their specialties, and much more.

Ken Hardcastle is a scientist by trade with a Ph.D. in geology. Twenty five years ago Ken discovered the art of fermentation and he hasn’t looked back since. His study of and exploration of beer, wine, mead, cider and everything fermentable has changed Ken’s life. No longer a practicing Geologist, Ken now pursues his love and passion for fermentation full time. He teaches a certification course on wine, mead and cider at the Lakes Region Community College. When he is not making or teaching about wine Ken is likely, exploring the topic further with his partners, friends, and family over a glass of wine, beer, mead or anything else that comes from Fermentation.
