All things Craft Wine, Mead, and Cider Making

Please join us for our second evening of discovery around all things fermentable. This time Ken Hardcastle, Hermit Woods Winemaker, will explore port, sherry, ice wine, fruit wine, rose, orange wines, cider, etc.  Through this event and subsequent events to be held over the next few months, Ken will continue to explore with you the vast array of wines, ciders, meads, and all the over craft fermented beverages being created around the world.  We will explore topics related to the basics of the craft beverage making, how to judge and properly taste craft beverages, the history and uniqueness of the craft beverages around the globe and the great wine regions of the world and their specialties, and much more.

Ken Hardcastle is a scientist by trade with a Ph.D. in geology. Twenty-five years ago Ken discovered the art of fermentation and he hasn’t looked back since. His study of and exploration of beer, wine, mead, cider and everything fermentable has changed Ken’s life. No longer a practicing Geologist, Ken now pursues his love and passion for fermentation full time. He teaches a certification course on wine, mead, and cider at the Lakes Region Community College. When he is not making or teaching about wine Ken is likely, exploring the topic further with his partners, friends, and family over a glass of wine, beer, mead or anything else that comes from Fermentation.
